The Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU) and the Born Free Foundation are delighted to announce an International Symposium on animal welfare in conservation practice, to be held at Oxford.
The Symposium will bring together scientists and practitioners from a range of disciplines to debate animal welfare issues in conservation, examine potential synergies, look for practical outcomes and promote a dialogue between these two disciplines that are often perceived as mutually exclusive.

The Symposium will be organized around the following themes:

  • Captive animal welfare and conservation
  • Conservation consequences of wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release
  • International trade in live wild animals
The Symposium will be of interest to academics and graduates in conservation biology, animal welfare and animal ethics, as well as conservation and animal welfare organisations and practitioners.

Please indicate whether you wish your abstract to be considered for oral presentation or poster presentation.

Abstracts for oral presentation should present information that falls within the scope of one of the four themes of the Symposium: animal welfare in field conservation; captive animal welfare and conservation; conservation consequences of wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release; and international trade in live wild animals. In addition to these themes, poster presentations will also be considered in other topics that fall within the broad scope of animal welfare in conservation practice.

Speakers will have 15 minutes for their presentations, plus 5 minutes for questions.

Include only the affiliation name, city and country in abstract listing. Type body without any indents or tabs. Bold, italics, underlining, superscripts and subscripts should be applied in your main text as you want it to appear in your final abstract.
